Updates From Stone Brewing

August was a great month for Stone Brewing in Minnesota.

First, Badger Hill (one of our talented brand partners) got the opportunity to brew Arrogant Bastard. The beer was an enormous hit, and it was made even more special by the fact that one of Minnesota’s own local breweries created it.

Later in the month, Greg Koch (AKA Stone Brewing’s co-founder) visited the North Star State to visit with the beer community. We got to hear Koch’s take on the beer industry, learn about the success of Stone’s past programs, and get the scoop about upcoming ventures by Stone.

With all this activity, we at Thorpe Distributing want to give you an update as well.

In December of 2014, Stone Brewing announced that they were building a destination brewery/taproom on the East Coast. Read about Stone Brewing in Richmond here. This location is now open and operating, which means Stone beer is now being brewed on both coasts. Due to shipping logistics, the new location opening also means you get new beer fresher and faster. And that’s always a good thing.

In July of 2014, Stone announced they aimed to bring American craft beer straight to the mouths of Europeans. Here’s an excerpt from the Stone Blog: “The site of the announcement was the historic former gasworks that Koch and company will transform into an equal-parts traditional and modern campus including a state-of-the-art brewery, packaging hall, restaurant and gardens.”

This new location is now open as well, and while it might not affect American consumers directly, it provides a pretty great excuse for a European vacation. You can stay up-to-date on the Stone Berlin brewery here.
